Save a Dailymotion video

Paste the link. Every available quality is listed with its real size, and the file is put together on your own device.

Nothing on the cloth yet. Paste a link above.

How it works

  1. Copy the video address.

Open the video on Dailymotion and copy the address bar, or use the share link. A dai.ly short link works too.

  2. Paste it above.

The site reads what Dailymotion offers and lists every quality with its real size and how many pieces it comes in.

  3. Pick a quality and wait for the cloth to fill.

Dailymotion sends video in pieces, never as one file. Your browser collects them and joins them into a single MP4 — which is why a progress bar appears where other tools would simply hand you a file.

The link box on the downloader, with a Dailymotion address being typed into it.

Why there is a progress bar

Dailymotion does not host a whole MP4 anywhere. It serves video as HLS: a playlist and dozens or hundreds of short pieces, which is what lets a player switch quality mid-stream. A downloader has to collect those pieces and join them back into one file.

On this site that joining happens in your browser, on your machine. The pieces travel through this server because Dailymotion refuses to hand them to a web page directly, but the file itself is built on your device and never exists here.

The indigo band beneath the panel, its grid of small squares filling with gold one at a time as each piece of the video arrives.

What you actually get

The original stream, rewrapped. Nothing is re-encoded, resized or watermarked, so the picture is exactly what Dailymotion sent. The audio option lifts the AAC track out of the same pieces and writes it as M4A — a rewrap, not a re-recording, so the sound is bit for bit what Dailymotion sent.

Sizes are shown before you commit. A three-minute clip and a ninety-minute film look identical in a list of qualities, and the difference matters on mobile data.

The result panel listing every quality — 1080p, 720p, 480p and 380p — each with its real pixel size, estimated file size, piece count and a Save button.

Videos this cannot save

Some uploaders restrict a video to particular countries. Dailymotion then refuses to serve its media from where this site runs, and no amount of retrying changes that. When it happens you are told plainly, rather than being handed a broken file.

The tool panel after a link is read and declined: where the quality list would be, a message names the reason Dailymotion gave for refusing this video.
